A wee bit off the subject

ATTENTION:  This is will be a wordy post - feel free to close this tab and come back tomorrow, I won't be offended =)

I'm not the "New Years Resolution"-making type of person.  I don't do well with goals that are a year long.  Perhaps this makes me a little immature, but I'm OK with that.   I have set some goals for myself over the next few months and I thought I'd share one of them here today (in an effort to make myself actually achieve it).

First off, I am in a new position at a new school this year - YAY!  But it causes me to be sitting and almost COMPLETELY sedentary all day - boo!  So I've noticed myself gain a little bit of weight...  and in truth, I've been gaining little by little for a few years...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say I belong on The Biggest Loser or anything, but I was becoming increasingly unsatisfied with where I was.  My husband purchased a FitBit for me for Christmas, since he knew I'd been wanting one.  It's helping me track my mileage (at least 5 per day!), my steps (at least 10,000 per day - which is waaaay easier than it sounds), my floors (ten staircases per day), and my calories burned (2184 per day - by far, the hardest daily goal to meet).  I keep track of everything online and my little USB-sized clip-on syncs with my computer whenever I want.  Aaaaanyway, long story short, here are the gory details...

My height: 5'3"  (Yep, I'm a shorty)
My age: 25
My weight as of Dec 29: 142 lbs (akc! Did I just post this online?)
My weight as of this morning: 133.5 lbs (woot!!)
Pounds lost so far: 8.5
My goal weight: 115 lbs...ish
Date by which I should get there: March 15

I know I want to be healthy.  Would I love to be tiny? Yep - but what I want most is to look toned, and feel healthy.  And I think I'm off to a great start.  I'm hoping to post an update one a week on my progress (this is NOT going to turn into a fitness/weight blog, I promise!), just to keep myself accountable.  Anyone else fighting the battle of the bulge with me?  Show me some solidarity!  Happy Thursday (and thanks for understanding this little deviation from home things), friends!

**This post was in NO WAY sponsored by Fitbit, I'm just neurotically in love with it's number crunching abilities.**

  2. I totally understand the desire to be more healthy. I sit all day at work at a desk and that bothers me too. I don't feel like I'm gaining weight, but I would definitely like to get more exercise and be toned and healthy. Congrats on your progress so far!

  3. What a great start! Good job. I have a few holiday pounds to walk off myself.

  4. I know what you mean. I was looking at a picture of myself from my wedding day. I think I weighed more then, but, I was active and worked out everyday. . . and looked a lot better. Of course, it was also my wedding day, so I hope I looked better than I do in sweatpants and a t-shirt.
Good luck! You've already made really nice progress!

  5. That is awesome! I haven't heard of FitBit, but it sounds fun (I love facts and figures, so it sounds right up my alley).

    Way to go!

  6. That is definitely a good goal...it's hard to really buckle down and get it done! I've been thinking one of those things would be a great idea...I like their number crunching abilities, too (c:
